  1. give plastic bags to all the babies you see in a store...then suddenly ull see all the familys that stop purchaseing plastic bags

  2. California is getting ready to ban and or charge people for the plastic AND paper bags in grocery stores.  Most of the stores already sell grocery bags made out of recycled plastic with their logos on them.  I've been using mine for the last year or so.  They feel a lot like a chamois, they are really strong and they fold up to fit in a pocket or purse.  Some come with a thick cardboard for the bottom of the bag.  Depends on the store.

California has discount stores like Sam's Club, Costco and such, that do not bag their products.  The customer is responsible for getting their merchandise home any way they can.  So it is done.  No bags.

  3. I like your ideas, but I have a few suggestions.

Instead of giving a discount for having the store's eco-bag, it should be a discount for bringing in any kind of re-used bag.  The idea isn't to promote consumerism, it's to re-use.  If they use their own bags, no matter where they came from, they are saving a plastic bag.  Even if they bring in a reused plastic bag.  That's great!

I also like the idea of expensive plastic bags.  It worked for Australia!  (I think they reduced plastic bag usage by like 90% or so... incredible)

Currently, SF Environment is trying a "BYOB" campaign where they encourage people to establish their own style.  Kind of a "what does YOUR bag look like?" to get people to bring in their own bag to make a unique statement.

    Hope this helps!  Good luck!

  4. Hmm a substutute that's stronger, cheaper and just as convenient?
