Question:

Tips for Disneyland?

I'm going to Disneyland the end of may with my hubby, 4 year old and 8 month old son. The last time I was there I was 5 years old so I have no idea what to expect really except for long lines. We are only doing 1 full day and probably skipping California adventures and the day we will be there is a wednesday if that makes any difference. So does anyone have any tips for me? I know a 8 month old isn't going to enjoy it too much but lucky for me my husband doesn't really like rides. Also I saw on another post something about a fast pass. How does that work and should I get one and where do I get one? Thanks!

  1. Since your kids are so young, you will probably want to go on a lot of the rides in Fantasyland, plus things like Winnie the Pooh, the Tiki Room, Finding Nemo, and maybe Pirates of the Caribbean.  Keep in mind that a lot of the rides are in the dark, even if they aren't meant to be scary.  If your 4 year old likes wilder rides, make sure they're tall enough to ride them beforehand.  Here's a list of the rides with height requirements:  http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyla...  Also, both kids will probably love seeing the characters (which can be found throughout the park) and watching the parade.

    Fastpasses are free, but only the major rides have them, so you probably won't be using them.  Here's an explanation on how they work, just in case:  http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyla...

    If you and your husband both want to go on a ride, there is a Child Swap system that allows you to both ride without waiting in line twice.  You can also definitely make use of the Single Rider system for rides that maybe only you want to go on, like some of the roller coasters.  For info on how both of these work, go here:  http://www.disneymouselinks.com/disneyla...

    I would bring your own water and some snacks (in like a backpack or something), because they're kind of expensive in the park.

    I would suggest looking around the Disneyland website so you have an idea of what there is and what you might want to do ahead of time.  http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyla...

    Have fun!! =]

  2. personally, I'd wait until both kids are a little older.  neither one will remember it.

    you may be in for a long day - pushing a stroller with a crying baby in it!  there's a lot of stuff the 4 year old won't be able to do, so be prepared for tired & cranky from that side too..  if you're in line for 45 - 60 minutes, what's your husband going to be doing for fun?

    :o)

  3. Wow, I have a ton of tips for you!  The site is http://www.DisneylandVacationTips.com  -- Especially see "Toddler Tips".

    Here are a few from the site:

    1. Lines 13, 20, or 21 move fastest at the Disneyland entrance.

    2. Order a free Disney DVD from the Disneyland website. It's got info on rides, planning guides, lodging, things to do, and upcoming special events.

    3. The best rides for the toddler crowd are:

        * It's a Small World

        * Dumbo the Flying Elephant

        * Casey Jr. Circus Train

        * The Monorail

        * The Railroad

    4. Changing tables are in both women's and men's restrooms. So don’t think Mom always has to do the diaper changes.

    5. Know your child's height and the rides' height restrictions before you go. They will be enforced.  Height requirements are here: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyla...

    Have fun!!

  4. Fast passes are free at Disneyland.  You can only get one at a time for certain popular rides.  You just take your Disneyland tickets (don't lose them!!) to a fast pass machine located near the ride.  You put in your ticket and a fast pass comes out for that ride only.  (Your ticket comes back out too!) It will give you a one hour block of time later in the day when you can get in the fast pass line for that ride.  While you are waiting, ride some rides that don't have a fast pass.   After 30 minutes has passed (from the time you got your fast pass) you can go get one for another ride.  If your husband is just hanging out, he can go get fast passes while you are on rides!  It's a great way to skip the long lines!  Go to Disney.go.com and see which rides take fast pass.

  5. u can go really early for example: when the park is open at 8:00 u go to wait in line at like 7:30

    In the morning there are usually less people, which means shorter line.

    ALSO

    u can get fast passes.

    U can get more than one fastpass, after one's time is pass u can get another one

    HAVE FUN AT DISNEYLAND

  6. I know just about everything there is to know about Disney! Here are the answers to your questions.....

    If your child doesn't really like rides take him to Magic Kingdom because at least it's got kid rides. The Fast Pass: A Fast Pass doesn't cost anything at all! All you have to do is pay for your park ticket and you're free to get a Fast Pass! A Fast Pass holds your place in line while you go off to ride an attraction with a shorter line or watch a parade or eat a meal. Your Fast Pass will have an time in which you may come back to the ride you have the Fast Pass for and wait in a mininum line. It's so easy and it doesn't cost a thing! Have fun in Disney!

  7. Okay I'm 13 but I like to type so please choose me.

    Okay so I have been to disneyland 3 times in the past three years. Yeah disney started a new thing called a fast pass ticket. You pretty much put your disney ticket into the machine on what ride you wanna go on and then it gives you another ticket. That ticket should say what time to return by. You can go off and explore the rest of the park with your family and when your time rolls around go back and get on. The rides are tons of fun. I'm going in May too. Well, also the lines have decreased now because of the fast passes. If you are going in the end of may (beggining of peak season) i suggest you leave your hotel before or 10 minutes after the park opens. It really saves ride time. Grab your fast passes for the biggest rides right when you get there! The weekdays are alot less crowded then the weekends. I would recommonend California Adventure because since you have a kid who is 5 they have alot of things like bugs life and stuff like that for them. They also have alot of baby sitting things for younger kids, and change table's and strollers if needed. Disney service is the best.

    Okay have fun.

    Love Michelle.

  8. Glad your going, and on a Wednesday too. It wont be as packed as the weekends so good date to go. Here are my tips, I go every year so yeah you know.

    1.Sinse you have some kids you wont need a pair of clean clothes, you wont be getting wet, unless you see Fantasmic up close, in that case bring an extra sweater. One year we were in the front row and mysweater got soaking wet, unless you want to speand $20 on a sweater, be my guest!

    2. Some rides to ride are a MUST for kids (I have two nephews under the age of 3 and they enjoy it) It's a Small World, Finding Nemo sumarine voyage( has an explosion and a angler fish in the dark, warning), Autopia,Toon town houses and more

    3. Take snacks and stuff to eat. Go to Mcdonalds across the street to eat, stuff in the park is expensive. Here a tip, go to the Grand Californian Hotel first, walk into the hotel, turn right and go all the way down to where the TV is, there is a card that was 10% discount off that Mcdonalds.

    4. at night when im guessing theyll be asleep, go see parades so you and your hubby could enjoy and kiss possibly, without the 4 year old gigglying (my mom and dad do that..)

    5.Buzz light year astro blasters is a must have, though one of you guys would have to stay with the baby-baby

    6. If you like rollercoasters, go on Matterhown, Space mountain is too long of a wait

    7. Gte fastpasses ASAP. DO NOT lose your ticket, only way to get fastpasess. I lost my ticket once, oops

    8. Have a the best day of your life, I garentee you will, Mouse's Honors 'O'

  9. yeah you can get a fast past. you get it same place you buy the tickets it's basically a pass that you where around your neck like a necklace and you get to pass everybody in line for the ride pretty cool so you dont have to wait in line like the others and yes some good advice for you is HAVE FUN!!!!! Disneyland is mad fun!!!=]
