Tips for Dominican Republic / Punta Cana Travel?

My boyfriend and I are in our 20's and going to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for the first time.

We're just looking for any tips or travel secrets you may have ;)

We know things like:

bring $1 bills, use alot of sunscreen, play the towel game, make deals with the vendors..

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated :)

#1 Tip:   Get out of the tourist trap in Punta Cana and rent a Jeep and drive the coast.  Much to be seen and experienced far from the hotels that bind some.  I drove the Northern coast, met some new friends and had an awe experience for my book of memories.
