  1. linebackers drop back and cover short passes in cover plays and try to tackle the running back when they break the line and blitz the QB on blitz plays

  2. Depends what defense. I am a DC in high school and we run a 3-4, so my OLB are actually stand up ends just a little quicker.   First thing I do is get them in the right alignment. Which is 1 yard off the LOS angled to the "V" of the Tackle or TE neck.

Next they have to read the tackle or TE. If he down blocks they need to get up the field, off his but, and don't get their hands hooked.if they pass block then they have to drop back at a 45 degree angle and play curl to flats. If they go for a pass route then they KNOCK HIM ON HIS BUT and drop to curl to flats.

He also has outside contain on a jet sweep or any sweep and the pitch on option. If he is called to blitz then he has one job"KILL THE QB"
