  1. It's easier than boarding, save your self some trouble take a lessen.

  2. You can't avoid falling, so learn how to fall before starting. Also, learn how to stop before starting down the hill.

  3. Everyone that I know that has done both says that skiing is harder.  I don't do either.  My son's scout leader is an accomplished skiier, as are his sons.  Both of his sons (teenagers) say that snowboarding is way easier.   My sons have never skiied, they started on snowboards and love it.

  4. ahahha i SUCK at skiing

i took lessons and they told me to make a pizza to stop??! yehh.. that didn't work for me..

    gluckk!!

sry that didn't really help =)

  5. Skiing  vs snowboard both sports will involve falling until you have enough "muscle memory and reflexes" to anticipate the event.

Skiing balance on the whole foot, toes lifted in your boots. Your boots should be TIGHT around your foot and ankle, one pair of socks only please, only your foot and sock inside the boot. No pants or wrinkles.  Take a lesson from a qualified instructor, not a friend or relative if you want to keep them.  It should take you about 3-4 hours to gain reasonable balance to avoid most falls.  Pay attention to what your body is telling you about the hill and your balance.

Before you leave do some exercises to condition your body, jump rope, stairstepper, exercycle, swimming, so on.  Dress warm with several thin layers, drink water to avoid dehydration.   Enjoy the sport.

  6. Easier! You don't need to balance as much. Just keep your knees close together and your skis pointing in the same direction so you don't fall. And do NOT think "It's a long way down . . . I can't do this."

  7. Most people find skiing really difficult in the beginning but once they master the basics they rapidly develop the confidence and skill to tackle the whole hill. Skiing unlike boarding is actually a rather simple skill. Skiing is simply a matter of transfering weight to whichever ski is lower down the hill therefor leaving your balance point higher up the hill. The physics of it remains the same weather you are snowplowing down the bunny slope or hitting the back bowls at lake loiuse.

You want to see disbelieving kids come to one of my race clinics and see stubburn jr racers snowplowing between the gates. They don't want to believe that those basics will make them go faster and that the bad habits they have developed slow them down.
