  1. see if your school has any kind of program that teaches younger studens about drugs and stuff like that. we have a program in our school where once a month you go down to the middle school. we teach them about drugs and why you shouldnt do them. lots of schools have programs like this or similar ones. its sorta like a mentoring program. it shows responsibility and leadership on your record!

choir is good too. its an easy A in school, usually you just get graded for participation. and having record of something in the arts always looks good.

    join a sport

voulenteer work or service hours is good too. see if your school sponsors anything. our school does this thing called "river sweep" and once a year we go and clean up trash from the shores of lake erie. your school would take you and bring you home from these. you can also voulenteer at a retirement home or a shelter for homeless kids. whatevers in your area. these things are more fun and less ackward if you bring a friend to do it with you.

be part of the yearbook committe. its fun and you can meet people from all different grade. its not a huge commitment because you only meet a few times at the end of the year. it shows organization and creativity on your record.

    good luck =]

  2. - Volenteer work of any kind is great.

    - Cultural Clubs, educational clubs, and clubs where you are in a position of leadership are great.

    - Honors classes are great, but what is greater is taking college courses at a community college because if you get a certain amount of credits, you won't need to SAT/ACT, you could just transfer from that college.

    - If you want to go to an IVY league, you'll need to SAT/ACT no matter what.

    - Study very hard for your State Exams. It will save you A LOT of time when studying for SAT/ACT math.

    - Get an SAT/ACT book

    - Take the PSAT's in 10th grade

    - Don't wait until 11th grade to start making vocabulary flash cards. Get the vocabulary out of the way now. Make 11th grade be a review year.

    Tips:

*Start looking for the college you want now

*Think about any majors you might be interesting in. It's ok if this changes over time.

No.... 9th grade, you should start worrying. Don't start worrying during 11th and 12th grade when everything is running towards you.

  3. Get your 3 terms of foreign language out of the way! I'm having to take 2 semesters of foreign language as a college junior because I simply didn't know.  It can also help with admissions.

Definitely play a sport all 4 years - why not?

by good college do you mean a university?  Depending on your location, you'll need a solid 3.7+ GPA at least.  AP classes help as well.

  4. It's good that you're not planning on slacking off in high school. You want to join sports, get good grades (of course) and further in your high school career (junior year if not now) take challenging classes like AP classes

  5. join a sport and band looks good on a college app as well

  6. one thing that killed me was Homework. do all your assignments and study when needed. it would be a good idea to do sports or if your smart Academic Decathalon (if your school offers it) at my school a friend of mine was able to get some college credit for doing it.
