Tips for a news anchor?

hello.

im just looking for some advice.

tomorrow is my first day being a news anchor for an extremely small town news station. (nothing fancy)

does anyone have any tips?? or suggestions at how i could become better.... im trying to beat out another girl for the main spot.

help is GREATLY appreciated.

  1. Don't giggle

    Add make-up (I know that's obvious)

    Try a fuller hair-do.

    Don't wear Whites or plaids (very bad on camera)

    Relax (I know it's hard to do)

    Speak sincerely but not overly dramatic.

    Make as much eye contact as possible with the camera (i.e. your audience)

    Possibly hold a prop to make you feel more comfortable. Such as a note pad if you're doing location, or news script at the desk.

    I'm just rattling off things that I've noticed about new reporters who start out on our local TV news show.
