Administrative Assistant position for a consulting firm.

any tips and/or ideas you might have to wow them.

also if you have any general interviewing tips, they would also be greatly appreciated. Write as much as you want, I will happily read through it all and take notes!!

  1. The first thing you need to do is research the company so you know what they do specifically and are able to ask and answer questions re the company. Then you need to avoid asking any direct questions re salary; let them bring that up. Same with benefits, holidays, etc otherwise it looks like that is all you're interested in. If they ask you what your negatives are, you always make them a positive, e.g., get too focused on one thing, too detailed, etc always make a negative look like a positive. Never speak ill of any previous job or boss. Always have one or two reasons why they should hire you, what can you bring to the table, what assets do you possess they would be useful to the company and never let the interview get sidetracked by personal conversation, sometimes they try to trick you by being friendly and you fall into it and lose your focus and consequently, the job. I did that more than once!
