i have recently got into my school shows like a few years ago and my confidence is getting better with time but i always seem to lack in the audition process. i want to sing 'i want to break free' from we will rock you as my song but not sure what to do. i usually just stand there sing and get out. also there is alot of favouritism in the school so same people get main parts etc. how can i seperate myelf from the others.

  1. You need to make your audition a BIG DEAL and really stand out. Dress in an appropriate costume, move around the room, interact with the auditioners, and do it BIG as if you were a big Broadway star in front of thousands of people. Good luck!

  2. Just imagine you're performing in Broadway in front of a giant audience consisting of your family, friends and favourite actors. You'd hate to embarrass yourself in front of them, so you'd totally go for it and sing your heart out! Use the same technique in your audition.

I used to be shunted out of the way for the more "talented" performers in my school plays, but now I have a chance of being the lead :) It may sound weird, but totally suck up to your teachers- be really REALLY polite and complimentary.

As for the actual song, here are some ideas....

-Find a group of mates who are in a band, and ask them to play for you! You'll feel more confident as the pressure won't be just on you, and you'll really stand out from the rest of the auditionees!

-Dress up in a really cool costume, with makeup and all!

    Good luck xox
