I'm 14 years old (girl if that helps) and i'm babysitting a 6 month old baby girl, a 6 year old girl and a 8 year old boy. I know how to angle to the 6&8 year old because i have experience, but i don't have much experience with very small children, the youngest i have sat for is 1 1/2 yrs, so do you have any personal tips or webpages for tips on baby sitting 6 month old kids?

Thankss!

  1. I went to Barnes and Noble and there's this book on babysitting for girls. It's in the American Girl section.

  2. Just be sure that the older ones are careful with the baby, because they will probably try and act like they are in charge of her, since they are the ones there with her most of the time.. if they are siblings. All that you need to do is really be sure to pay close attention at all times, don't ignore their cries, even for a minute... you always need to be looking. You are their support. Especially since you are fourteen, if anything happened, it would be put on your parents most likely. Infants are a big responsibility. Good luck!

  3. As a mother if you where babysitting for my kids and you didnt know what to do with a certain age child, I would want you to come to me and ask questions like; what does he or she like to play with; is he or she the type of child that you can put in a playpen with a toy and they will be ok playing by themselves for 20 or so; or do they need to be engaged with someone at all times; do they watch movies if so which one is their favorite.  Every child is different and no one knows a child like their mother and father.  I think you are doing the right thing by asking for help, but the best people to help you is the baby's parents.

  4. I would just let the baby have floor time, playing in a bouncy... maybe going to the park or for a little walk.  It won't be to hard i promise.  play games with the baby like peek a boo and play with him/her.
