  1. Okay

    1. Be ready to take responsibly for other people's mistakes

    2. Be a leader

    3. Don't be to bossy, but let them know that you are the captian

    4. When your coach isn't at practice make sure your team is working hard and acting like the coach is there

  2. I play on my college club team, i am a starter but not a captain, but i do know a quality captain when i see one.  Here are some qualities you should possess or develop: you need to constantly talk and communicate w/ your teammates, don't be afraid to make mistakes it happens to everyone, work the hardest in practice and set the bar for everyone else, don't hesitate to get in a teammates face if he/her is not giving 100% but don't make it personal because it's all about the team, be the first to cheer for a teammate, you need to be able to be level-headed when your team is losing, never get in the ref's face-be rational and calm, in a huddle make sure to add your two cents in, if you win a big game that isn't a sectional, state or national championship act like you've been there before don't jump around and insult the opposing team no matter how heated the rivalry, and most of all be a gracious loser and give 100% every game because nothing demands the respect of your teammates or ppl on the other team more than to know losing can't break you and that you can bounce back.  Things may be different in the women's game (more drama), but these are qualities that few ppl possess, and if you do you're a special individual who would make a great captain.

  3. If you are a leader on the court, u have to encourage your teammates, even when they make a mistake. Tell them come on u can do it and show them how. Also be aggressive!! GO for any balls that are around u. Take charge of the game. Just dont be intimidating to the other girls and real bossy. Be nice but be a leader.

  4. i think a good captain should just be someone who has leadership experience. its important not to be too strict on your teammates, because sometimes they may feel too much stress and pressure that way. on my vball team i just like to be optimistic and applaud them when they acheive something, and when they do something wrong i just casually tell them how to improve. i think being a team captain is a commitment but you have to be pretty down-to-earth and laid-back too.

    hope this answers ur question!

    xoxo

  5. just be a leader by your actions and always be there for your teammates...you have to give them respect before they will give you respect...it is also ur job to make sure there are no problems between teammates and you are the player voice of the coach, you need to stay in contact with the coach

good luck, big responsibility but its a blast

  6. just make sure you show no weakness

i am also a captain as a sophmore for a boys volleyball team

i assume your the one of the best ones on ur team so u should show them by how u play

when a game comes down to the wire, make sure YOU are the player who will get set, who will make the pass, who will step up and make a big play....big players make big plays in big games

also, make sure u make them laugh

make sure your the first one to start a new drill, make sure your the one that leads them in warm-ups

when theyre down, they will look up to you to help them...just dont let them down

  7. firstly, if you and another girl are chosen as captains, it doesn't automatically mean that you are the best players. it means that the coach(es) think that you and her are the best players to show leadership. that is what being a captain is all about. you set the example for the rest of the team. you should have good communication skills and keep your cool during heated times. there's nothing worse than your captain flipping out when you need her the most.

captains hold the most responsibility and commitment. you don't need to be bossy or mean or threatening in any way, but you should get respect from your other teammates by respecting them first. listen to your coach, teammates and the other captain. don't be stubborn and brag about being captain. your team already knows you are captain, but the rest of the world doesn't really need to know.

just follow the rule of "treat others as you would like to be treated"

my captain from my freshman year was one of the best people i have ever met. she inspired the rest of my team to get our act together and play as a team. she helped us out whenever she could and took it upon herself to teach everyone what it meant to be on a team. she was respectful towards each of us and had sportsmanship. she would keep her head held high if we lost a game or offered a genuine smile and "good game" to the other team if we won.

hopefully this helped a little. good luck!
