Question:

Tips for convincing my mom to dye my hair PROFESSIONALLY..?

I have my mom convinced to let me dye my hair - but I know she's not going to like how much it costs to do it professionally. But I absolutely refuse to get someone else (either her or a friend) to use a store-bought box kit on my hair, because this is going to be the dye job that goes to my school pictures. I'm blonde and I'm getting purple dye, so it WILL show up very well.

My brother dyed his hair black at the salon I go to, and it cost about $60....I'm getting strips/streaks, not my whole head, and she's worried that I won't be getting my money's worth.

Any tips on convincing her to swallow her dislikes about the amount of money it costs, and let me get it done by a pro??

  1. well tell your mom that if you dye your hair at home it might not turn out as well as it would at a salon. so you'll end up going to the salon anyways to fix it. tell her to take you to the salon the first time that way if the home kit doesn't work, you won't have to try both. Good Luck!

  2. Remember that store-bought brands are based on the perfect hair type.  If you don't get it professionally done you may end up spending a lot more to have it fixed if it doesn't turn out right.  If you go to a professional, they not only do the job right, but they make sure you like it.  You can get the tint just right and know that they will stand behind their work.  Just make sure you go to a reputable salon and not one of those $10 per cut places.  And leave plenty of time to get it right, at least 3 hours if you are getting a cut and a color.

  3. Anything can go wrong with buying boxed dye, the colour might not turn out right, its messy and there is no professional to tell you if you will suit the colour. You do not want to look back on school photos regretting not getting it done at a salon, it is worth the extra money
