Question:

Tips for creating website?

I have never built a site, but I'd like to for my business. I'd like to have a photo gallery and a blog along with the other typical pages. I have no idea how to create the pages and I've thought of using a template or a web host's site builder, but I'm not sure if they would support the blog and photo gallery. The templates seem to require several other programs (like Adobe photoshop) in order to customize the site. Any help would be appreciated!

  1. To make a website you need a domain and webhosting. Hostmonster webhosting is the best one since they offer unlimited bandwidth ,free domain and $75 credits to advertise your website with the google & yahoo search engines for free  with their webhosting package.

  2. Here is a site I use...

    www.freewebs.com

Now I know it says free but you can pay and have all the other web essentials including your own address, blog etc. It will support all your needs, even the free version.

Go and try it out free, first, build your site by using a template, as you would like it and then upgrade to a pay acount. There are many, many templates to chose from.

It only takes a little practice to learn how to do everything yourself and it is great experience for you.

If you want to look at the one I built, I will leave the URL in the Source space below.

If you would like to ask me any questions relating to building a site like my two, I have a fair amout of experience as you will see by my own TWO sites.

I built & administer everything myself.

But, this is the EASY way. You can go and learn HTML and write your version that way but I see no need to do any of that as the freewebs does everything you should need.

There are many other such web sites available, you need only search for "Webspace"

You can also build a web site using MS-FRONT PAGE. I did an old one that way. You can look for the URL at my home page.

I should add that my web sites are Personal web spaces not commercial pages. But you are able to create commercial spaces as well.

  3. I use vipersitebuilder.com   Super easy and you get five sites for 15 bucks a month.  I dont think you need photoshop for it.

  4. The blog and photo gallery will not likely be easy using any kind of website builder.

Although a full featured photo gallery and blog would generally cost about $675

You might be able to work the price down to $475 if you get a static photo page instead of a gallery that you will be able to update day-to-day yourself.

These prices include custom graphic and search engine submission and optimization.

  5. You will need your own software to edit templates, and most sitebuilders are pretty weak. Your best option is to buckle down and learn the basics of html editing with a program like kompozer or coffee cup. If the host is using cPanel and offers Fantastico, you can use that to set up the blog and photo gallery, and then use a site builder to link to them.
