Tips for driving alone at night?

Hi, well I am 16 and I may have to go drive myself to the Breaking Dawn release party and borders that is 10-12 tonight. My dad has to catch a plane tomorrow so my mom doesnt want him tired from taking me. They also tell me I cannot cause anymore trouble as in get into a wreck. Well, I know there are drunk people out at that time so I need some tips to stay as safe as possible? I have driven alone before, just not anytime past 8 so far. Tips?

I strongly recommend that you do not drive . I do not know what the laws are where you live, but I presume that you do not have a full, unrestricted license that allows you to drive by yourself.  

Instead, try to tag along with someone (you trust) to take you or hire a taxi or private car . Yes, it will cost extra, but it will make sure that you get to and from . And it is much, much less expensive than being pulled over or being involved in a collision.

Get your night experience without the added pressure of having to be somewhere and then be back home before you turn into the maid.

carry a cell phone. and in the state of ny you cant drive alone past nine until you 18 even with a license. so watch for cops also.

okay first make sure all ur doors are locked. then make sure u car does not need gas......(u have no clue oe the gas stations mite be) then u have to make sure u have spare keys with u. then u have to make sure u r perfectly awake and aware of ur sorroundings......do not drink and drive. look around before u open ur car door for ssafty

just pay very close attention to all signs and the road. make sure your headlights are ON. wait a few seconds before going through a green light. most importantly use COMMON SENSE. Another idea is to take a friend along with you if it's possible that way you'll feel more secure. Try to stay on main streets where they're are more cars and streetlights.

have you even got a FULL licence?

you cannot drive alone with just a provisional.

if your going to a party then i say dont drink, because you wont be able to drive back.

But first know what kind of licence you have and how you can use it or else just get a taxi

drive slowly and carefully and avoid cars that seem to be unsafe or have drivers that look as if they are drunk. and remember always buckle up its click it or ticket!!!

Drive the same as in the day. Be careful. You can't control what other drivers do.You just have to follow the rules of the road and hope for the best.

there's no big secret to driving after dark. just be extra cautious. don't turn the radio or on or talk on the phone or anything. just pay attention to the road & you'll be fine.  && have fun at the release party. i can't wait to read the book as well!

Well, make sure your headlights are on...I know this sounds silly but you'd be surprised when you're driviing in the city and you really can't tell if they're off. Lock your doors. The chances of you facing drunk drivers are slim...anyways the bars don't let out till 2am...they're still drinking when you'll be driving. Of course drive the speed limit...don't speed. And if you're driving on an unfamilar road, go a little slower. If the car behind you start riding your butt...pull off the side of the road and let him pass. You'll be fine! Have fun at your concert! Trust me...driving in the dark is no different then driving in the day...actually there will be way less people out and a bit safer!
