  1. check the minimum lux on your camcorder. If you use below the recommended setting, you will have a lot of noise in the image.

    You can shoot during the day and add night effect in post production!


  2. I'm assuming you don't have any lights, or at least not a full lighting kit so here is what I would recommend. If you are shooting during the day, you could put ND gels over the windows. Bring the light down so the relative intensity ratio as compared to your actor is about the same as if it were dark and there was only moonlight illuminating the scene. In other words, you're reducing contrast by darkening the windows enough so that the light is brighter than your actor, but not by too much. Expose as you would normally and shoot. Once you have done this, when you edit, you can use color correction tools to add a blueish hue to your video, darken it, etc. until it looks like night. Hope this helps!
