  1. Keep your knees bent until you are passing the ball.

Move to the ball early, so that your movement is stopped.  You do not want to be moving to get into place when the ball is there.  All movement needs to be toward the target.

Keep your arms straight.  Get them in position early.  Many passers get their arms into position just before the ball gets to them.  Get ready early.

Put your outside foot forward.  (If you are passing on the left side, put your left foot forward and right foot forward if you are passing right side.)

The amount of swing that you use depends on the speed of the ball and the distance the ball needs to travel.  If it is a hard spike and you are close the setter, you will even need to cushion your arms so that you keep the ball on your side of the net.  Put your arms out in front and relax them.  If it is a hard serve and you are close, you will not use any swing at all.  If you are deep in the corner and it is a hard serve, you may just straighten your knees without any swing.  If you are very deep in the corner and it is a slow moving play, you will need to straighten your knees and add a little swing.  When it comes to arm swing, I tell players to pretend they have a heavy bucket of sand in their hands.  How much swing can you really do with a heavy bucket of sand.

I hope this helps.  If I have confused you, please feel free to email me.

  2. get ur butt down arms out. on a serve if it is hard jsut let it hit you.  for a hit do the same thin. if it is a free ball you shoudl be able to get hands on it. you need to remember that you need to swuare up to the target and not to swing at the ball it is all in your legs.

  3. for receiving serves, hits, and free balls......

put the foot that is farthest away from your setter in front of you.  bend your knees and if it is a hard serve just let it bounce off of your arms.  if it is a lighter serve just bend a little bit down and then come up.  make sure that your belly button is facing the target so that it goes to them.

  4. DON'T SWING... it will go out of control... to aim face your bellybutton to the target(setter)

  5. when receiving, get low to the ground, and arms out in front of you.  When the ball comes, depending on its speed, move to it and push with your legs.  if you swing your arms, the ball will go farther (which comes in handy when trying to save a ball on third hit)  Keep your arms as flat as possible, and don't move them.  the more they move, the more places the ball has to shank off of.  if you aren't passing right in front of you, just drop one shoulder slightly to face your target.  (drop right arm to have the ball go right...)

for hitting, or hard serves.  get down low, and move to the ball.  the worst thing you can do it just to reach out with your arms, instead of moving to be right in front of it.  You have more control when you move, but *make sure you come to a complete stop before passing the ball*.

Thats as much as i can give you...it takes practice to get better, so don't give up on it!
