Tips for improving coupe jetes???

I'm fairly new to doing these and I'm really trying hard to get them looking nice. Are there any tips from you seasoned dancers?

I learned these the beginning of our fall session last year, what really helped me was that my teacher kept telling me to use more plie. That really helps; oh, and really push off of your back leg. That helps to get height and to get you into the splits in the air.
