Im 14 years old, 14 stone (which is around 90kg) and around 6ft. Im not really fat but very unfit (and quite slow lol) and the rugby season at my school will start in about 8 weeks. i havent played rugby for AGES but i remember all the rules and how to do what etc so i was wondering what i could do to steadily get back into my rugby mindset and also regain my previous fitness while keeping my current weight.

i thankyou very much for your responses guys

oh btw the gym is not an option

  1. 14 and you haven't played in "AGES"? :)

    Daily routine:

    200 Pushups

    250 Situps

    2-3 Miles Running

1 hour of full body stretching

You can break that up into segments if you need to. Keep pushing until you can do all the situps and pushups in one session. As a coach once said, "you'll be twisted steel and s*x-appeal".

A good exercise for the lock-forwards is the "mountain climber". In a pushup position you bring a knee between your elbows... switch knees... repeat ad nauseum. Great for driving in scrums, rucks and mauls. Also helps for breaking tackles.

No gym needed... once you can do 200 pushups you can do some AMF's (Adios... you can figure out the rest). Face a wall, put your hands on the floor 6 inches from the wall. With your arms straight, kick both legs up onto the wall. Then do as many "inverted" pushups as you can. If you can do 10, it's pretty good. If you can do 200, I'll see you in the next World Cup.

    Cheers!

  2. You have to start running. You should run as fast as you can and improve everyday. This is how I did it: I ran as fast as I could for everyday for 2 semester and I made to to junior varsity team and eventually got a scholarship to a state college.

  3. try doing 40 *80 sprints and then doing sqats and thrusts
