Hey all, i'm an avid snowboarder, i've been boarding for 10 years, but EVERY TIME i go up i get big red puffy chapped lips from the wind, any tips on how to keep this from happening? Its annoying as heck! plus it makes me look like i've put on lipstick lol.

I've tried chapstick, it wears off in like 5 mins in the high wind.

Please help a fellow snowboarder!

  1. I remember this bees wax chapstick that i used. I know that this sounds weird, but you should be able to find it anywhere. It feels so good on your lips, it like tingles!

  2. i use burts bees wax.. he tingles when you put it on, kinda like a light burning but its awsome!!!!! highly recomend.

  3. this also happens to me- the wind's really harsh!

i tend to use the chapsticks that 'aren't sweet' on the lips... i forget the brand i used last time but i typically use the type that is a bit "harsh-feeling" on the lips

  4. vaseline

  5. Try using a Mint based lip balm. It's what works best for me. Besides the minty lip balm I usually top my lips with lip gloss which stays on for quite a long time but i can't recommend that to you cos i think your a guy. There is a new lip balm that just came out from Polysporin. I haven't tried it but i have heard it protects your lips from chapping in cold temperature. I agree trang16 that Vaseline/  Petroleum jelly works well. The thicker (not in size) and oily the lip balm/ chap stick is the it longer it will take to wear off. Hope this helps

  6. okay sometimes this works for me skiing. if you put Vaseline on it is alot stronger than chapsitck and can go on alot thicker. if that doesnt work than i dont know

  7. Prevention is the better part of valor, chapped lips are a sign of dehydration.  Drink more water in addition to the chapstick that you use.

  8. Carmex is pretty industrial strength and is great, so is the Blistex stuff that comes in a white little jar.

  9. facemask?

  10. duct tape you lips closed. that way no wind can hit them. =]

  11. Try wearing a bandana wrapped around your face it keeps your face warmer and it prevents wind from hitting your lips and it doesnt have to be a bandana it could be anything from a scarf to a pair of underwear and it works great.

  12. yeah why can't you wear something to cover your face like a bandana or something that covers your lips??? i wear one and it doesn't stop me at all i can still freeride, hit rails and kickers do 3's just fine??? i never seem to have a problem with chapped lips...and use chapstick with mostorizer
