  1. Good question!  Well in order to keep your great smile, wear your retainer as prescribed by your orthodontist, there are situations in which an orthodontist will place a fixed retainer on the upper teeth, but that is solely to the discretion of the orthodontist, every case is different.  Continue to brush and floss and you will have no issues!! It's that simple!

  2. All you can do is take care of them. Wear your retainer the full time that your orthodontist tells you to (which could be 24-7). As long as you wear the retainer, they'll stay straight. If you have wisdom teeth, you might need to have them removed because they could make your teeth crooked. But your ortho should know that. Brush your teeth with a whitening toothpaste twice a day, and floss at least once a day. Avoid lots of pop or acid-y foods because they are bad for your enamel.

    Hope this helps!

  3. I had a fixed retainer as well when I got my braces off along with the clear retainer. I didn't have the fixed retainer removed for about 5 years so I'm sure that helped my teeth stay straight. Even after your teeth might move a little bit not too noticeable but it's natural. I was not a fan of the clear retainer I felt like it didn't hold my teeth straight so I went back and got the wire retainer after I got my fixed retainer removed. Just make sure to brush/floss your teeth regularly. And drink soda with a straw so the acid doesn't touch your teeth and mess up your enamel, colgate luminous is a great toothpaste for enamel.

  4. Well, its pretty straightforward. Wear your retainer for as many years that you are willing to. It is so worth it!
