Bonjour. So, I have to study for my french class, I had to put it off last night, considering that I was way too busy with other homework, so I was wondering, does anybody have any tips on how to study and help memorize these better? Thanks! I have to memorize how to spell and say them, I believe and what htey mean.

  1. Flash cards!!! You have to write them out, and other's can help you easily!

  2. Bonjour! Spelling  cards or flash cards would help, but i find that i get easily frustrated with them. Try maybe making a trick or a word similar to the French vocabulary. Good Luck!

  3. the way we do them in class is to put a list of the terms down in a column (copying them from wherever..)

then put a second column down with the english definition ( don't forget the "to" if its a verb)

then, make a third (and fourth, and fifth...) column(s) but leave it(them) blank.

Then you can go through and fold it it however (english showing, french showing etc..) and try and remember how to spell them (or if you left the french showing, write what they mean in english)...  Then you go through and if you got it right your good, and if you got it wrong, do it again (i usually put a star in the english column to remember what i got wrong)  these are a pain in the butt (honestly, i know) but they are really good for memorizing spelling, and you get to waste time folding paper (lol)

Then, for pronunciation my favorite way is to make flash cards, with the french on one side and either a picture or the english on the other, and get a friend to test you.  That way you have 2 minds telling you if you're saying it wrong, and its fun!

    Good Luck!

  4. the best way is to hear someone say it over and over to remember how to say them

for the spelling....some words are spelled similar to the english way so they would be easyer to remember

i hope that helped in anyway xD

  5. Most people try to remember the French word and then what it means in English. But that's a very inefficient to do things. And slightly too intellectual -- that's not what learning a language is about.

Look at the word (ok, you do have to learn how it's spelled), say it several times while you imagine or picture the actual word in a context. Forget English, just the French word and the actual word or context. Then make a sentence with it. Imagine you say it to someone in a specific context. You have to feel it, make gestures if you need to, and say the word out loud. Get involved into it. That's what a real word is like -- not just letters on a piece of paper.
