Now i know i'm probably too late but i need some tips for stressmarks... i'm 28 weeks pregnant and have started to get small red stressmarks on my hips, belly, back and b***s!!! my self confidence is dropping dramatically as i'm 21 and my body was reasonably 'good' before i fell preggers... my stressmarks arent too big yet, just around an inch long or smaller but i would like to prevent further ones

what products/creams/oils do you recommend? i live in Australia so something i can buy here would be great

thanks for any help!!!

  1. I have used bio oil or palmer's cocoa butter and they seem to be quite good. You will still get stretch marks though as your skin has to do alot of stretching. Don't worry after you have had your baby the fade away so you can't really see them. It's just one of them things when your pregnant, all worth it though.

  2. Coca butter is one of the best things to use.....but you gotta use it religiously!!! Even a couple of days of not using it you will see a difference! It can also depend alot on your skin....my mother has 6 children and no stretchmarks...and we are all like her!

But if you start getting them....use Coca butter or oil!!!

Good luck...you will be fine !! Don't stress too much.....

  3. anything to keep your skin moist would be helpful

  4. Stretch marks are the result of skin that is tight and not wanting to stretch. Rubbing any kind of oil, like baby oil or something with Vitamin E will help, but not stop stretch marks. After you have the baby and IF you have the time, pure Vitamin E oil is a miracle worker. Kinda pricey though. Check the web for 'stretch marks', the site should give you places to order specific creams for that.

  5. LUCAS PAPAW OINTMENT, You can get it at the chemist, anywhere in Australia and make sure u get the bit tub, its the best thing ever. Its home made and amazing.

  6. i was using bio oil but it did nothing for my skin (and my boyfriend told me my strechmarks looked like the baby was trying to claw his way out.....sooooooo not impressed when he said that.....lol)

palmers is very good, they do a special cream just for strech marks too. it provents strech marks appearing and helps the ones that are already there. x

  7. if your mother had them, you will get them too...you are genetically prone to them sorry

  8. Hey

I started using Glycerine around 4wks of pregnancy. And use that every night (its a bit oily if u overdo it.) And I also use bio oil in the morning and lunch time.

I use Religiously Everyday. 3 times a day.

Also the Glycerine is in the Family. As my mum had 4kids and no stretchmarks. So we all use it.

Do u have Glycerine over there?

  9. Try bio oil or palmer's cocoa butter for stretch marks.

If you cannot find that look for a product with Vitamin E in it.

    Good luck.

  10. You can't prevent stretch marks.

They are scars that form deep within the layers of the skin when the fibres that make the skin "elastic" are stretched so far they actually snap.

The tendancy to get them (or not get them) is more genetic than anything else.

Putting creams and oils on the top layers of your skin won't really do much to help.

It will, however, keep your skin soft and comfortable, as pregnant tummies can tend to get very dried out and itchy.

Try not to put on too much weight and drink a lot of water, but don't invest in expensive lotions and potions that claim to "prevent" stretch marks, because they can't.

If you COULD prevent them, no one would ever have them!

They might look a bit ugly and angry when they first appear, but they will eventually fade to silvery white.  You'll hardly notice them in a year or so.
