Tips for taking good pictures?

I feel like I always look like c**p in pictures. I want to get some good pictures of myself! You can look at my passed questions and see some pictures of me and you'll see that I look like c**p in pics.

What are some tips to looking good in pictures?

lighting is everything, use any light you can :) or use a dark room with a little light and make it look spooky :D

i have the same problem, and i hate it. what i do is just practice! i take a bunch then pick through them. if you take enough you are bound to find at least one good picture of yourself.  practice in front of the mirror.
