  1. Your teacher will give you a feel for what they expect from you.  If you have any doubt, look around and see what other's are doing.  Generally if they put up an outline or write on the board during lecture, they intend for you to copy down what they're saying.  For now, just buy pens (blue and black ink), mechanical pencils, and a couple notebooks.  If they expect you to have anything else, they'll let you know.

  2. You should definately take notes. Most of my teachers always helped us with the notes that we took, but listen for things like 'this will be on the test' or 'remember this/ you should know this'. Buy enough spiral notebooks for each of your classes for notes. A 3-ringed binder or 2. Pens and Pencils. (th grade really is simple, it's not as bad as everyone thinks. And before you know it, you'll be out of highschool.

  3. your teachers will tell you the supplies that you'll need.. but i suggest you buy the basics.. paper.. pens.. pencils.. calculators.. high lighters..

you're right.. work is different in high school because the work is more and harder

often times, teachers won't really help you... they'll give you the assignment and leave you there to fend for yourself
