  1. Stop to nurse whenever the little one gets really fussy. Bring any and all books that interest baby. When driving, leave at the beginning of a normal nap time, or, better yet, at baby's bedtime. That's the best way to go. Plan on it taking a few more hours. Good luck!

  2. Are you traveling alone?

My husband and I have traveled 5 hours by car with our sons, who were 3 and 2 months at the time. The only advice I can give is to plan for extra stops due to feedings, diaper changes and fussiness.

Edit: On what to take, we took pretty much everything we would use on a daily bases. However, since you will be traveling by bus, I would suggest limiting the items that you will take. For example: limiting the number of clothes and taking a travel sized detergent so you can wash the babies clothing while at your destination, same with bottles. Also skip the baby tub or get one of those infant bathers that can be folded and placed in a suitcase. As for sleeping, I have a snuggle nest that I bring, which fits into a suitcase. Of course you will need a car seat that could double as an infant seat. While traveling on the bus, I suggest a car seat cover, so you can carry the car seat like a backpack and an infant carrier. This way your hands will be free to carry luggage and diaper bag, things could get bulky if you add a stroller, so I would personally leave it home, especially if traveling alone.  Other things you will need are infant toiletries, formula (travel sized portions for car and bus) or pump, diapers, blankets and etc…

  3. Pump a couple of bottles if he will drink out of a bottle, if not then pull over after 3 hours to feed and you can feed on the bus but he will probably sleep other then that, cars knock little babies out!
