Question:

Tips for trip to Birmingham?

I'm thinking about traveling by train to B'ham, but not sure it's the best option since the train ride is over 8 hours long. I don't really like flying--the closed in space, layovers, baggage, check-in all make me a little unsettled. But I'm traveling solo, so what would you suggest?

Has anyone travelled to Birmingham by train for over 8 hours? How was the trip? Were you able to sleep fairly well?

Also, has anyone stayed at the Sheraton in B'ham? I also avoid elevators and would take the stairs. How feasible is that?

Thanks for your pointers.

  1. Well the Sheraton is one of the finest Hotels in the city. There are stairs but not real feasible as to taking them up to advanced floors.I have taken the elevators there and they are great.

As for the train ride, take it as this is the purest way to see the country side.
