  1. what you wanna do is run on your toes, like not run flat-footed but run on your toes, it helps alot in running faster. trust me i raced alot of people and won so many times running on my toes:] so i hope this helps.

  2. practice practice practice. there are many answers to this question.

my tips are run at least 3 times a week, but 4 is better. any more is excess.... you need resting days, either do every other day, or a schedule like Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays..

another way to get faster is interval training. i don't know your current skill. if you can run 30 mins strait just not the fastest do intervals as follows....

30 mins of running with this sequence.

5 mins jogging, 2 mins running, 30 seconds sprinting, REPEAT

or do 25 mins of running, then when your done (jogging is fine for this) then do 30 second sprints, 30 seconds walking. for the final 5 mins...

that will all improve your time... or if you live near a track you can SPRINT the straight aways, and either light jog, or walk the curves.. i suggest light jogs, cause it uses the same muscles, but walking is better than nothing...

also when running long distances, don't stop, don't walk. just run slower...

and finally NEVER forget the power of friends, if you run with friends it makes it ten times easier. even if they time you, a good partner to push you is so much better than running alone.

as to the answer above, dont just RUN ON YOUR TOES!!! running on your toes, makes you faster in sprinting (dont sprint flat footed) but if you run long distance on your toes, its bad for you.
