i need some tips on buying gold here in US....how good and efficient are gold in USA when compared to buying it in countries like india.....

what are the various types of gold available in US and which one is the best for what reason...

I prefer to buy locally, which mean you do not worry about shipping, handling, and insurance.

Find a coin shop near you.  Many coin shops sell krugerrands and other "bullion" coins for a small premium over spot.
