  1. One of the things I have seen most improve a salchow is really checking the 3-turn.  Work on it on a single first.  Count each movement in your head -- or I even count it out loud for my skaters.  Focus on each step:

    1. push back into a landing position...

    2. step forward..

    3. 3-turn, but HOLD...check it so hard that all rotation stops...

    4. jump, getting the knee through.

A lot of times you see skaters "spinning" their way through a salchow because they're not stopping the rotation from the 3-turn prior to jumping, thus they're rotating before they even leave the ice.  The checking of the 3-turn allows you to maintain control of the jump, whereas without checking the jump can look and feel out of control and too "spin-y." :)  Checking also allows you to "square up" to take off straight and not twisted.

Also, be sure to get your knee up and through in the jump...like you would for an axel....like you're going up stairs two at a time.  This allows you to get up into the jump instead of trying to throw yourself into it or muscle your way through it.  It's a lot easier.  :)

    Good luck!

  2. jump up and don't wrap your legs also land with a force and fight for your landing

  3. As soon as you do the three turn think of a axel
