Does anyone have any good tips on getting a Non-Immigrant work visa for the U.S.? I'm trying to go over to California to stay with my girlfriend for a couple months and I would like to work, but I don't already have a job lined up or anything. If anyone has done this before, can you please give me some pointers on how to get a working visa or how to get a job before I get over there?

  1. Based on what you have said, you will not be able to get a visa.  You need to be sponsored by a US employer.

  2. i don't think there is such a thing, unless you graduated from school and is on a work visa (ie: OPT) for one year.  your best bet to live in california for a while and stay legal before marriage, would be applying for a student visa F1 and going to a junior college, whose tuition is significantly less for international students than the universities.  or what you can do is get a visitor's visa that let's you stay for 3 months and find work illegally...or come here on a visitor's visa, marry your girlfriend and while the visa process is pending you will get the work authorization card.. good luck!
