1. Going vegetarian isn't as hard as you would think!

The key is to eat a lot of different kinds of vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc. At first it's a little tough because you will still crave meat every now and then, but just resist that craving!

Make sure you know what kind of vegetarian you want to be. If you want to not eat any meat, but you do want to eat milk and eggs, that's a lacto-ovo vegetarian. If you want to only eat fruits, veggies, etc, and milk, but no eggs, that's a lacto-vegetarian.

Just try to eat a lot of protein from beans, milk, dairy products, and lentils. As long as you stick to your "diet", and you aren't afraid to try different things, you will do find!

Here's a website to help you along: http://www.vegcooking.com/

It has great recipes and a vegetarian starter kit. Go ahead and poke around.

Well, good job for going vegetarian! =)

  2. -You don't have to cut out all meat at once. You can go a week without chicken, and then the next week cut out steak, etc. Or you can cut out all meat except fish or red meat at first.

    -Buy a vegetarian cookbook.

-Go to vegetarian restaurants. All vegetarian is best because then there wont even be anything to tempt you. But if there isn't in your area, ask your server what's vegetarian. It's also important to check if things like if their beans and french fries are made vegetarian.

-Meat substitutes are probably the best thing ever. Quorn and Smart Deli are really good brands. It all almost tastes like meat.

-Make sure you get enough protein. The meat subs, beans, peanut butter, tofu, nuts, and mushrooms are good options. If you're worried talk to your doctor. It's harder for some people to get the protein they need then others.

    Good luck!

  3. Stop eating meat.

Don't make this more complicated than it is. You know what meat is. That's all there is to it.

  4. All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly. Most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereal yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

You don't need any special foods as a vegetarian. Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily proide everything but B12.

It may make it easier to stay motivated if you know that vegetarians have the same potential as anyone else.

  5. Make sure you have friends that are vegetarian so you can cook together. Ask your mom to be supportive and not try to feed you ribs like mine did. Keep lots of nuts and beans around to ensure that you get enough protein.

  6. Well, if you quit right away, you are most likely gonna start eating it again. So lower the amount of meat you eat slowly for about 2 weeks. And think of the animal that you are eating. It will make you lose your appetite. This website will help : http://www.peta.org/ Congrats on becoming vegetarian!

  7. Well I'm 17 an dhave been a vegetarian for over 5 years. First you have to decide why you want to become one. And do it for your self not becuase your friends are. Once your dedicated you have to look at food differently. When someone invited you to dinner.make sure they know of your decision. And eat everything that make except the meat. When you do to a resturant that only has hamburgers ask for a chese burger with no meat. Just start cutting out the meat and this will imediatelyy start meking you feel healthier just by not getting all the fats :]

  8. they have really yummy fake meats, that come in burgers, chicken burgers ( my favorite) chicken nuggets, and little chicken strips, etc. buy these before because at first your not really gunna have a lot of choices. pastas and LOTS of salad. oh and if you haven't had stir fry or whatever, TRY IT.

  9. I phased out meat gradually, the less you eat it, the less you want it. Now that I don't eat it at all it doesn't appeal to me whatsoever and I don't miss it or really think about it. If you currently eat meat every day, start out every other day or as much as you're comfortable w/ and just decrease from there. Good luck :-)

  10. Don't forget that not all fruits and vegetables are "safe".

See http://www.foodnews.org/ for the list of those with the highest pesticide levels, and consider buying those organic.
