Tips on how to clean a stuffed animal with a voice box in it?

My 2 year old son LOVES his Mickey Mouse and Poe stuffed animals and takes them everywhere. As a result, they look quite worse for the wear and he is at the lovely stage of taking his diaper off at night and peeing in the bed. Both of the stuffed animals have voice boxes inside that while there is a place to open the animal in the back, there is no where to unplug the box as far as I can see. I'm looking for any tips on how to give these toys a GOOD cleaning so they smell and look as fresh as they can.

  1. fill a basin of hot water with vinegar and dawn dish soap,,,

with a clean sponge use the suds at  the top of the basin to rub into the fur or the animals,,,

after doing this get the sponge damp and rub away the suds

      air dry

  2. Please check out our section on cleaning stuffed animals at http://www.stuffedzoo.com/Cleaning-Stuff...  There is information on how to Wash a stuffed animal and how to Surface Clean a stuffed animal.  Since your stuffed animal has a voicebox the Surface Cleaning instructions are the way to go...unless your situation falls into the "A Final Word" catagory.  Good Luck!

  3. You've got some great advice. I just want to add that if you have some that DON'T have electronics inside, every month tie them in a pillowcase and throw them in the wash. After the wash remove them from the pillowcase and dry them twice.

Also it helps to cut down on dust mites to put them in a plastic ziploc bag and place them in the freezer for 24 hours. Between the dryer and the freezer your stuffed toys will be very low on dust mites.

That is very essential if your child is asthmatic or a chronic sneezer.

  4. eithr try fabric cleaner in ther can, then run through the dryer or take to dry cleaners.

  5. Spray on a mild all-purpose cleanser or simply use soap and sponge it clean with a little water. Then leave your stuffed animal in the sun to dry. You can also go to the website below that provides detailed steps for safely washing your stuffed animals. Hope this helps.
