I've JUST started a Higher Maths course and am struggling already, i understand it when someone explains it to me but know i'll forget within an hour how to do it. Is it just a case of keeping on doing it and drilling it into my head or am i clearly just not a maths person?!

  1. In my experience, just do the homework. It helps you understand the formula and how to use it in certain math problems and situations. Just do all your homework and you'll be fine. If you still don't get it though, you should study a little more.

  2. you should know that yourself really! if you usually do well in tests with not thaaaaat much work then you are mathsy! you need to keep practising maths....or you WILL forget. listen in class too!

  3. im just going into 4th year tomorrow and i used to have the same problem. what i did was make sticky notes of things that i had learnt in the day or week that i might forget and stick them to the fridge, side of computer, top of bed, roof, beside my tv, on my perfume anywhere that i looked at regulary and remembered them, when it came up to my exam read them all, the ones that i remembered threw away and the ones i hadnt stuck them up aswell. (:

    thats my physics teachers idea.

  4. if your being spoonfed then chances are you'll forget pretty quickly. if i was you i would try independently working on problems, that way even if you forget how you worked out a problem you still posses the ability to be able to solve it again.

also try to incorporate drawings, diagrams and colours into your work. this will help jog you memory.

if your doing GCSE maths then contact me by email, i have some very usefull resources for you.
