Tips on how to run a mile?

I am 20 and in college. I am required to run the mile in 4 days. I have not ran since i was in Junior High. I am very out of shape. I do run short distances but nothing as long as the mile.I tend to get really tired really fast and have a hard time breathing. Any tips for me>

  1. Not much you can do in four days without risking injury. Do some walking and stretching to get your muscles warmed up and loose, then do the best you can. Slow and steady pace and breathing. Wear good quality running shoes too.


  2. Try running up hills, for stamina. Do some fitness too!

  3. Stretch well before the run.  Don't worry about how fast since you didn't mention whether it is timed or not..   Just start slow and run relaxed.

  4. not much u can do in 4 days. but during race remeber this.....

    b4 race: warm up and strech and run strides.

    1st lap: jus relax and stick wit someone.

    2nd lap: pick up the pace a little

    3rd lap: this is ur hardest lap try not to fall behind and try to stick to ur pace from 2nd lap.

    4th lap: go all out this is ur final lap.
