Question:

Tips on keeping a home foundation good?

The foundation on my home is not terrible but my basement is always wet when it rains and there are a few small holes in the cement blocks near the drive way.

Our drive way does need redone as it will be a major problem hear shortly with the foundation.

But is there any way I can prevent my foundation being destroyed by water? Is there anything I could cover the stones on the outside with? Maybe like the stuff they use to seal drive ways with?

  1. Sounds like you have multiple problems here. First you need to divert the water away from the house. If that means repairing the driveway, then start there. Check to see if your gutters and downspouts are clean and sending rainwater away from the house. Patch all cracks and holes in the blockwork with mortar cement, then paint all the blockwork with dry-lock paint. This paint will seal the pores in the block.
