  1. I would put the leash on him in the house - some pups are just so overwhelmed by being outdoors that the leash just makes them go *pfft* and not do anything.

Being in the house may give the pup more confidence to move about, just keep the leash tied short to the harness/collar so he doesn't trip or get caught on anything.

You can also feed a few little treats when the pup is leashed and moving about. Try leading with the treat and leaving the leash slack. Don't pull or tug.

  2. theres lots of harnesses you can use to help you gain control over your dog while walking that you can use as trainning methods i found the ones that slip over the nose and attach to the lead very useful in stopping my dogs pulling without harming them and there no expensive, failing that put his favourite treats in your pocket when hes wakling at your side give him treats as he starts to get used to it give him less and less treats till your giving him only a few along the way or youl end up with a fat pup lol

    godd luck

  3. Don't pull on the leash. Keep it loose and let him lead you at first. Call him over on the leash and keep it loose. Act like its not on him. Eventually he should start letting you lead him.

  4. The main thing is to make it lots of fun for your puppy.  Use lots of treats, keep your voice very upbeat and happy, talk to your puppy a lot, keep on calling him, pat your leg, walk backwards, whatever it takes.

Put your leash in your right hand, a handful in treats in your left and say "let's go, ____"!!  in a very happy voice.  Give him a treat for taking a couple of steps with you.  Lots of verbal praise, keep on talking.  The object here is just to get him walking and having fun - it doesn't matter just yet where you go, you just want him to walk and stay reasonably close to you.

Keep your lessons short and fun, praise him for every bit of success, and you'll see improvements every day and he'll be wanting to walk because he's enjoying himself.  Just keep on talking and smiling and you need to relax and have fun and so will he!

  5. Take a look at your local adult school. Sometimes they have dog training classes available that are very inexpensive. I did that with my dog when I was 14 or 15 and it worked great!
