Tips on playing offensive right guard in football?

I'm 13, 156 pounds (160 pounds is the weight limit so no one will be heavier) and I play right guard on the offensive line. Our first preseason game is today and when we practice I always get pushed aside or I can't get a hand on the defender. Our plays mostly are man to man, cross plays, and scoop plays. Does anybody have any tips so I can really and I mean REALLY Blast the defender to the ground or atleast get a hand on them and control them?

No short answers please, Thanks

  1. Your job is to guard, do your job.

Bigger opponent (which is going to happen most. He's a defensive back) - step back,

    - block away from the QB, or towards IF QB TELLS YOU TO

    - DON"T chase a missed block, block the next

    -

  2. no short asnwers.......................

well the answert is quite simple....

stay low. drive and make sure to use ur hands CORRECTLY... fire off tghe ball quickly and hit him before he hits you.. thats how u sucessfuly play the o line

  3. well i play RT and it sounds sleezy but the best strategy is to hold without getting caught. so basically get your hands under his pads and get up close so the ref can't see. but in a clean way, the best answer is simply to beat him off the line, make sure you know the snap count and drive, drive, DRIVE!

  4. just kepp practingand you will get beyter

  5. dasnaper and reeser08 r right   jus do wht they said     sorta cup ur hands under his shoulderpads but stay close and drive ur feet   they shoulde never stop. then fire off the ball and get the first blast on him.  wht also helps i learned is when ur driving him keep smacking ur helmet up against his and he cant concentrate. truct me it works.   stay low when doing everything
