I am joining the army in about a month and I want to be able to pass the run test going in. I can only run about half a mile right now before I lose my breath and my legs start hurting. Can anyone give me tips to get up to two miles in a month? And should I take short quick breaths or long deep breaths??

  1. Get yourself a personal trainer

tell him the goals you wish to achieve in a month and he'll start you out on a program

  2. it doesnt matter what kind of breaths you take it has nothing to do with how you are going to preform your miles, right now you need to focus on finishing the distance. make sure that you get running shoes and drink a bootle of water before your run. streching before and after will help you not be as sore and can prevent injuries and pulled muscles. its ok if you lose your breath and your legs start hurting by half a mile this happens to everyone you just need to run through it and keep going. run a mile each day, andeach week add on half a mile untill you get to two miles and then keep on running 2 miles make sure you take 1-3 days off each week so that your body can take a break. and four days before you have to run the two miles for the test try to do very shor distances or decrease your speed so that your not sore.
