Question:

Tips on streaking my hair purple?

What techniques would get me different results? I'm not really looking for thick chunks of color--more like inch-wide streaks and then some long, thinner ones in my bangs. What makes the color set in more, and last longer? I've read about wrapping the streaks in foil and then blow drying for half an hour, letting the color set for an hour & a half, etc. Does anyone know of other methods to extend color life? I have brown hair, so I know I'm going to have to bleach it. Any tips for that, as well?

I was thinking about using Manic Panic Ultra Violet. What other brands would you suggest?

  1. Well, I don't know how dark your hair is, but even if it's blond I sudjest bleaching the streaks you want first.  Color will show much better if your hair is super light blond first.

Then, this is going to sound really weird, but if you mix purple kool-aid powder with mayo or a little water then put it in your hair where ever you want it and let it sit for an hour before washing it out it works really well.

I know it sounds stupid, but it's brighter and lasts way longer than hair dye.

  2. I have been dying my hair for 22 years and I suggest you get a spray on purple that washes out. Streak it using foil but dont bleach the hair to colour it because when you change your mind on Saturday it will be trouble getting it back to normal.

  3. I just dyed my hair purple yesterday :]

I suggest if you're streaking it definitely go with the foil technique.

You should bleach your hair but if you do the purple might come out pinkish ://

But if you don't the purple will be extremely dark.

    Either way, your call.

    Good luck :]
