I'm not wonderful, but i'm better than a lot of other girls on my team. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to improve.

  1. You definitely need to master bumping/passing, and serving, those are the major points. If you're a setter, work on setting (obviously) and if you spike a lot, work on that. It depends on what you play, etc.

  2. start working out your legs to get a better veritcle that is always helpful, the starting outside hitters are usually also the best passers. what ever your position is you should be practicing whatever it does.

  3. well i cant give u much because to really give u tips, we have to know how u practice, how u hit, how u pass....u cant fix something that isnt broken. but just so ya know, the 2 most important keys are passing and serving. u have to get ur serves in or the other team gets an easy point. and u have to be able to pass good cuz thats the foundation-good pass to setter, good set to hitter....make sense? but like i said, we dont know what u need 2 get better at

  4. Passing tips - Always have your left foot slightly in front of the other, with your knees bent shoulder distance, and ready to pass with straight arms. Make sure wherever you are targeting the ball, that is where your feet and shoulders are pointed.

Hitting tips - Never leave to perform your approach before you know where the ball is going. One it reaches it highest point, that's when you should start your approach. I had such a hard time only a short while ago with hitting. I learned you NEED to snap the ball for really good angle hits, or just good hits in general. This means once your arm is in the air and makes contact with the top of the ball, snap your wrist down, and follow through.

Blocking tips - This really is determined by where you play on the court, middle hitter or outside, but either way, here it goes! If you play middle hitter and are setting up to block, you really need to judge the ball and in those three seconds you have to think. Ask yourself, 'Is this an angle hit or a down the line?' Whichever it may be, position yourself, jump with your hands high in the air, fingers spread apart with hands close together. Try not to leave a 'field goal'. This means don't spread your hands too far apart. Keep them close that your thumbs almost touch.

Middle hitters always have their hands straigh up, but with outside hitters they always have the hand closest to the outside line tilted inward. Just in case they block the ball it won't hit off their hand and go out!

I'm so sorry if I made is sound 485 times more difficult than it is! But once you get the hang of it, you'll quickly and always know what to do! Good luck this season!
