Tips on writing a literature review please?

so i'm working on my MA dissertation and I should have a chapter on previous models and literature but I'v read way too many things and i dont know what to keep what to delete..is it better to write small snippets about many different theories or should I focus on 3 or 4 theories and explain them thoroughly??

When my husband did his, he focused on 3 - 4 and explained them more completely. He felt it showed a more complete understanding of things, while doing snippets of many different theories shows a more 'shotgun' approach with little depth of understanding.
