Tips or info about being on set of a movie?

when they give me the script, can i put in some additional lines?

Since you are likely just starting, it is a big no-no.  Director's frown on it, and writers especially do.  Part of being on set is acting professionally, and as an actor your job is to intepret the lines you are given as best you can.
