Tips to become Valedictorian...?

Any tips for me in order to become Valedictorian??

I'm going into 9th grade. Most schools use your overall highschool GPA but I think at my school they just use your 11th grade GPA, so what can I do right now to aide myself in becoming valedictorian? I'm taking all advanced courses right now and I'm getting high As in them. Also, I plan to take ALL AP courses in 11th and 12th grade, etc.

The problem for me is not that becoming valedictorian is too hard -- it's too easy for others to achieve it as well. I'm among some of the best students in the grade but there are many others who can get a 5.0 GPA. in case of a tie in GPA, my school looks at the amount of credits you've gotten, your scores on the SS and ENGLISH regents, etc.

So basically, my question is do you have any tips for me? thanks

  1. Take as many AP classes as you can handle.

Good Luck. That is my goal too!

  2. Well, you can always take extra classes in the summer. When I was in HS my district offered summer day and night school. I wanted to graduate early so I took both just for the extra credits. I suggest taking courses that you would have to take but aren't offered as honors courses during the regular school year so that it won't lower your potential for a higher GPA. Also, I know some high schools offer seniors the option to have an empty class period if they have satisfied all graduation criteria and passed all required standardized tests. If given this choice, take an elective course just for the easy credit. Try talking to your HS counselor about any opportunity to take a dual credit course at a local college. They may be able to work something out so that you get honors credit for the course and you can be a step further when you go to college.

  3. Work really hard, prove to your teachers you deserve it!

    Best of luck
