Veteran difficulty on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 can be tough, but with these simple tips it will become all the more achievable.
The Call of Duty games have never been too hard to Platinum on the PlayStation 3 or get all the achievements on the Xbox 360. A majority of the trophies are in the single-player campaign and in the Modern Warfare series; some can only be unlocked in the
Spec Ops mode.
Yet, the one thing that all the games have in common is that the single player mode on Veteran, the highest, difficulty is quite a challenge. That is until the player understands a few things and follows certain tactics.
Flank, Flank, FLANK!
Nearly every military game stresses on the importance of flanking one’s opponent. Flanking basically means breaking off from the main unit or fight, and going down the sides till one is level with the enemy forces and dropping them like flies.
This tactic may be slightly more time consuming but it is effective.
Go down the sides, the middle is death!
While not exactly flanking, try to stay to the side of the map or level. This helps in a number of ways; firstly, because it reduces the area where the player can be shot from. With a wall to one side, the player can focus his fire on the rest of the map
and concentrate on it better, knowing that from one side at least, he is safe.
The centre of the level is where one will find himself not only exposed, but also vulnerable to cross-fire. It is the gaming equivalent to wearing a bright orange bulls-eye on one’s back and singing Rebecca Black’s Friday. In short, not a good idea.
Flash, Flash, BANG!
There is a reason that the player is given a large number of flash bangs yet the reason why a majority of players do not use it in the single player campaign is a real mystery.
True, the flash bang does not have the same destructive power as its fragmentation cousin, but it can buy you those few extra seconds which could make all the difference.
Before rounding a corner and running into an area where you know sh*t will hit the fan, it is always best to prep a flash bang, throw it, wait for it to stun the enemy, run in and pick them off one by one.
Yet, to use the Flash Bang up to its true potential, pair it with a Frag grenade. Throw a Flash Bang and a Frag grenade right after to stun everyone!
Support
Whenever the player is presented with an option of a UAV with AGMs (Air-to-Ground Missiles) it is best that he or she does not try to act like a hero and go Rambo on the enemy AI, but rather sit back at a safe distance and unleash h**l on them from above.
This opportunity should never be spurned and used as often as possible. In fact, when it does come ‘online’ or available, the player should stop whatever he is doing, go prone and make full use of the superior technology available to him.
