Question:

Tips to getting in to Yale?

I'm a sophomore and its my dream to go to Yale.

I know scoring 2300 and above on my sat is really important

I'm looking for tips on how to make that high of a score, how to juggle the stress of taking multiple ap courses and honors courses during the school year, and what exactly they're looking to see on applications.

anything else regarding Yale or other Ivy League schools is appreciated also.

  1. Take an SAT prep course - they're supposed to really help.  And you can also buy sample tests which you can take at home - basically, the more you practice, the better you'll do at it.

Yale doesn't just want someone who is smart, though.  They are pretty unique among top schools in that they seem to want to pick people that will make good roommates - people that other students can learn from.  So whatever there is about you that makes you unique - take the next couple of years to explore it.  And if you don't have any hobbies or interests that you feel are unique - if all you're doing is the usual sports, travel, internet stuff - than find the most unusual thing that you can do and do well, and get involved in it.  Especially something that shows you have a sense of humor or that you don't take yourself too seriously.  They will get hundreds of applicants who have 2300 on their SAT.  The boring ones will go to Harvard, and Yale's just fine with that.  Being the one with 2300 who started a Shakespeare troupe on Second Life, or ran their iPod on a generator they made out of a twinkie, will give you an advantage.
