  1. Roll your r's and replace the long A sound with an eh sound.  Replace the short a with an ah sound.

Thaht would be grreht = That would be great

That's the best I can offer

  2. Move there for about 10 years.Lived in Kerry for 13 years, and would sometimes take the Mickey out of the way alot of people in Kerry would say their S's.It was only when I came home that I realised that I sounded the exactly same way.

  3. Go to Ireland and actually spend a few weeks listening and talking to people. I always pick up accents when I travel and both times I went to Ireland, I came home with a pretty decent accent.

You should also try learning Gaelic. It will give you a better understanding of the natural cadences of Irish speech and the proper inflections.

  5. Be proud of your heritage but don't change who you are. Your accent is part of you as it reflects where you have lived. It's not a good idea to 'learn' an accent. It never will come naturally and you will always be conscious of how you say things. Don't fake it. Just be who you are. Irish with a different accent, and proud of it.

  6. biggest tip is the silent letters that come up in the language, anyone from Dublin  will tell you this is true...instead of saying things like 'getting' 'shooting' 'beating' 'frightening' you drop all the T's and all the G's from the words, so they become ' ge-in' ( sounds like geh-hin) 'shoo-in' (shoo-hin), 'bea-in' and the last one becomes ( froi-nin')  you have to say the word quick to get it right, or just watch  colin farrel for a few minutes, and you'll know what I mean hahahahha

  7. Faith and begorrah!

  8. don't do it.  irish people can spot a fake accent a mile away.

otherwise move to ireland.  it seems to be working for me.
