Question:

Tips to improve golf game?

I am a 6 foot, 20 year old golfer, I really just golf for fun no real pressure in my game. I was wondering if i could get some tips to drive straighter and hit a more solid ball. My current stance is to always have my club hit the ball at my front foot, it works ok but i'm looking to improve my game not just get by. P.S. I do not use my driver, ever because I don't trust it, I either slice or hook, lately a lot of hooks. Thanks

see if purepoint can help you

  2. your grip should be hard only with the last three fingers of your left hand(if your righty) the rest of your grip should be firm enough to not allow slippage but not tight (think of trying to grip an egg...firm but not hard enough to break it)

golfing consistently has more to do with whats goin on in your head than anything else...how many points are you able to make sure you have correct everytime you swing...

taking the stance...bending the knees...eyes on the ball...head down...left arm straight...active wrists at top...swing round the hips...accelerate through the swing...

any and everytime i have a bad swing after a good one...i have missed one of those key components to my swing...

a lil mental trick i have used well with my shots now is to imagine myself taking the perfect practice swing...only there is the ball in the way...seems to take a bit of the edge off of my mind and concentration...

ps also...it could be that you try to kill the ball rather than hit it...by doig this you wil have a phenominal hit a few times, but overall your consistency will suffer

  3. There are many factors involved in correcting a slice or hook; the grip, stance, ball position, address position, and the swing itself.

I have written a lengthy article dealing with all those areas of the swing at Hubpages - see link below.

As regards to your height and weight - they don't have anything to do with the way you play. Just make sure that your clubs are the right length for your size and maybe you should be playing with a stiff shaft flex (if you have a reasonably fast swing speed.)
