  1. you may benefit from some one on one instruction at this point, thats the best but will cost you, hope that helps

  2. Start learnings modes and guitar leads

  3. Here is a tip to increase your speed and your synchronization with left and right hand for faster picking and to get good dexterity.

Use one finger per fret and start at the first fret in this fashion:

Fret 1-2-3-4 with fingers 1-2-3-4 ....then do the same on the 5th,4th,3rd,2nd, and 1st string.

Now go up with 4-3-2-1 fingering always using alternate picking at all costs.

Now, restart with 4-3-2-1 fingering all the way to the small string and backward, 1-2-3-4.

The secret is to alternate pick each note . After 2 weeks, you should see a major improvement.

Then, do isometric fingering without the guitar. Tap with the fingers, 1-2-3-4- or 4-3-2-1- or 1-4-2-3 or 1-4-3-2- etc....

    Then start with 2-1-3-4, 2-3-1-4, 2-1-4-3,.... etc....

Make sure your wrist is not touching the table and finger tap soft and hard.

This is very good exercise for finger strength and practice. I do it al the time . Your fingers get stiff. Now, pick up the guitar and do these exercise and notice the nice riffs or licks you can do with this fingering.

Also you can shift the finger exercise down all the frets, that will help you get a feel for different positions

  4. Scales and arpeggios are important but it will take some time to learn and apply them.  I recommend learning two-handed tapping techniques (like those use by Eddie Van Halen).  You can pick up the basics pretty quickly, move beyond "beginner" and create the appearance of advanced skill to non-guitar players.  Youtube is full of instructional videos.

  5. Chord progressions, scales and chords.

This is very good exercise for finger strength and practice. I do it al the time when I am on the road especially in winter. Your fingers get stiff. Now, pick up the guitar and do these exercise and notice the nice riffs or licks you can do with this fingering.
