I'll be flying to Japan (delta) and meeting friends from another flight at Tokyo. I have a connecting flight in Atlanta. It's about 1hr 15min between flights. I'm worried I'll miss it since take off delays are common. Especially in December when i'm leaving

What are some tips to tell the agent if i do miss a flight to make sure i receive good/fast service?

  1. Dan has it 100% correct.  The only thing I would add is if you are terribly worried and the schedules allow you might look for a flight that would get you into Atlanta sooner.  Even if it's not feasible to rebook now, you can look at standing by on the day of travel.

One other thing...I would seriously look at getting trip insurance.  If you misconnect because of weather the airline has no obligation to put you up at a hotel, provide meals, or do pretty much anything other than get you on the next available flight.  With the right trip insurance policy these items will be covered.

    Good luck!

  2. Just look at the agent, smile and hand him/her your ticket. Tell the agent that you have missed your connection. That is all that is necessary. The agent will take care of you. The agents in Atlanta are accustomed to helping passengers that have missed connections. You will not be the first that will have needed help, and you will not be the last, either. Just let the agent do his job. Say "thank you" when finished.

    Regards,

    Dan
