i bought 4 new tires. it was for a 93 jeep grand cherokee. i've put about 6,000 miles on them so far. someone pointed out that 3 tires were 215/75 r15, and the one on the passenger side rear was 225/75 r15

the truck has full time 4wd, or awd, whatever you wanna call it.

anyway, iwent to the place that sold me the tires, and they gave me one new tire to replace it. i asked them about the even tread wear, and they told me "it'l catch up to the others.

i had another guy look at it, he measured the tread depth, and there were 3 different measurements. the new one was 13, the two on the left were 11, and the other one was, i think he said 9 or 10.

the car'sinformation center said to service the 4wd switch. now i have NEVER had ANY major problems, and im not about to start because they gave me one wrong tire.

will 3 different depths of tread take away from tire life? should they have given at least 2 new tires to match, or even 4 tires?

  1. The tyres on your car will wear different, we drive on the right hand side of the road here, but the tyre wear on a vehical is, L/F, R/F, L/R, R/R.

The difference in the amount of tread should not matter too much but I would put it on L/F as this is the tyre tyre that tends to wear quicker than the others.

The 225 is taller than the 215 and being a full time 4x4 it can/ could  affect your diff.

    Hope this is helpful.

  2. Their mistake so they need to get you a complete set of new tires so that you will be happy and they will keep the customer....
